Kids at five, adults after cake · 20 to 300 guests

Birthday catering, two sittings.

A Mumbai birthday is two services an hour apart, not one buffet at cake time. Children eat at five; adults eat after the candles. Kravvia, founded 1999 in Santacruz, puts a 37-dish kids menu inside the same per-guest rate, so the second sitting is not a second bill.

The house view

The first decision is the room, not the cake flavour. A 30-guest Andheri or Bandra flat cannot take a chaat cart; drop-off from ₹650 is the format, from 20 guests, plated, with no equipment. A clubhouse of 50 to 150 takes a staffed buffet from ₹850. Live counters (chaat, wood-fired pizza, waffle press) start at 100 guests and ₹1,200, and they need floor space. The second mistake is one sitting. Ask for the kids station to open on arrival, the adult spread after the cake, and the 37-dish kids line written into the same quote.

The detail that matters

Count children as full guests

Hosts still brief a kids menu as a cheaper plate of fries. It is not. Thirty-seven dishes, welcome drinks through dessert, sit inside the same per-guest rate as the adult spread. Kravvia does not bill it as an add-on. Above roughly 250 guests the kids line usually runs as its own station, children fed first, main buffet moving. Ask for that station, timed to arrival, in the quote. The adult spread can pull from eight cuisines on the 200+ dish tasting menu; children stay on the 37.

Asked before every booking

How small a birthday will you take?

Drop-off starts at twenty guests, a staffed buffet at fifty, live counters at one hundred. Under twenty, the mithai range at ₹700 to ₹2,100 per kg and the ready-to-eat pantry at ₹160 to ₹200 a pouch cover a family table.

Will this work in a Mumbai apartment?

A Mumbai apartment is a drop-off job, not a buffet one. Hot food arrives plated; nothing has to fit through the door but the trays. From fifty guests, a terrace or clubhouse takes a staffed buffet. Live counters wait for 100 guests and a room that can hold them.

Can a kids birthday run as strict Jain?

Say so at the brief, not on the day. Strict Jain service has run since 2012 from a fully isolated Jain kitchen: no roots, not merely no onion and garlic. Both the kids and adult menus are rebuilt to spec, from ₹850 per guest.

Should I book live counters for a home birthday?

Of the nine live counters, the birthday three are the chaat cart, wood-fired pizza and waffle press. They start at 100 guests and ₹1,200 per guest, and they need floor space. Below that, a 20 to 60 guest flat is drop-off from ₹650: hot, plated, no equipment.
