Corporate meal box services in Mumbai: formats and bands
Individually packed office meals from ₹180 a head, three-course from ₹280, minimum 25 plates a day. When a box beats a buffet, and how to brief one.

The meal box is a format, not a smaller buffet
A corporate meal box is one sealed, individually portioned meal handed to one person. It is not a buffet scaled down, and the difference decides whether the order works. A buffet assumes a room, a table, a queue and someone to man the counter. A meal box assumes none of those. It assumes people are at desks, in a training room, on a shift, or spread across three floors with fifteen minutes between calls.
That distinction drives everything else: gravy travels in its own compartment, rice is portioned so it does not compact, and the box has to survive a lift, a corridor and a reception desk before anyone opens it. Kravvia has run Mumbai corporate catering since 1999, and boxed formats sit on the same rate card as the rest of the daily programme.
What a Mumbai office actually orders boxes for
Four situations account for most boxed volume, and each has a different brief.
- Training days and induction batches. Fixed headcount, fixed break, no service staff. Everyone eats in twenty minutes and returns to the room.
- Shift and split-timing teams. Operations, support and finance desks that do not break together. A buffet held for three hours degrades; sealed boxes do not.
- Multi-floor offices. One delivery, three drop points. Boxes are countable at the door, which a chafing dish is not.
- Client and vendor meetings that overrun. A board lunch that slips forty minutes is a real risk with an open buffet and a non-event with sealed portions.
The published bands
Boxed office meals price from the daily office lunch card, not the event card, because the production run is the same.
- Two-curry meal (dal, sabzi, rice, roti): from ₹180 per person.
- Full three-course meal (starter, dal, two curries, rice, bread, dessert): from ₹280 per person.
- Plated board service for client and leadership lunches: from ₹850 per guest.
Standing weekday programmes run to a minimum of 25 plates per day on a five-day rotation, with a two-week trial before monthly billing. One-off event boxes for annual days and offsites price from the event card instead, from ₹650 per guest for drop-off.
Strict Jain plates run alongside the standard line every day at the same delivery window, from ₹850 per guest on the event card. They are cooked in a fully isolated Jain kitchen that has been separate since 2012: separate utensils, separate prep team, no roots at any stage. Jain boxes are labelled and stacked apart so they are not handed to the wrong desk.
Briefing the order so it lands correctly
Six numbers make a boxed order quotable in one exchange rather than four.
- Headcount, and whether it is fixed. A training batch is fixed. A floor count is not.
- The delivery window, in a fifteen-minute range. Boxes are made to land, not to be held.
- Drop points. One reception, or three floors, changes the packing and the labelling.
- The Jain and allergy split. Counted separately, not estimated as a share.
- Cutlery and disposables. Many Mumbai offices now supply their own.
- Whether it repeats. A standing programme is quoted differently from a one-off.
The most common avoidable error is ordering three-course boxes for a twenty-minute break. A six-component box needs unpacking time. For a short break the two-curry format is the better meal, not the cheaper compromise.
Where boxes stop being the right answer
Boxes are the wrong format for an annual day, a reception, or anything where the food is part of the occasion. Above roughly a hundred guests with a real service window, a buffet with staff from ₹850 per guest, or live counters at ₹1,200+ per guest, does what a stack of sealed boxes cannot.
For pantry stock rather than a served meal, the thirteen ready-to-eat retort pouches run ₹160 to ₹200 with a twelve-month ambient shelf life and no cold chain. That covers late shifts and travel, not lunch for a named headcount on a named day.
All food is 100% vegetarian and produced to Kravvia's specification in FSSAI-licensed partner kitchens. Delivery timings are confirmed at booking rather than estimated.
