Getting the balance right on a Gujarati thali is a technical exercise: the same meal has to be sweet at the dal, tart at the kadhi, spiced at the shaak, and mild at the rice — all simultaneously.

What Gujarati thali events require

Powai housewarmings and family celebrations typically run 50–150 guests. The occasion is usually a ghar pravesh, Navratri lunch, or family reunion — not a formal wedding. The expectation is authentic regional cooking, not a pan-Indian buffet. Guests will know if the dal is off-sweet or the kadhi is too thin.

A full Gujarati thali at Kravvia runs: Gujarati Dal (sweetened, tempered with mustard and curry leaf), Kadhi, two shaaks (dry vegetable preparations — typically a seasonal option and a standard like Undhiyu or Batata Nu Shaak), Moong Dal or toor, rotla or thepla, rice, papad, pickle, and a mithai to close. For larger events, we add a dal dhokli station or a live handvo counter.

Gujarati thali catering at Kravvia starts from ₹700 per guest for a full regional thali service. For a seated, plated thali with staff and refill service, pricing starts from ₹850 per guest. Minimum 40 guests for thali service.

Thali service for housewarmings needs seven days' notice for under 80 guests, 14 days for over 80.
